Moon Miners' Manifesto

We applaud the preliminary Bush Moon/Mars plan

But it needs improvement. Read our Position Papers.

"The Moon: Why and How we Should Return"

"The Hubble Space Telescope and the Future of Space-Based Astronomy in the Light of a Return to the Moon"

We do NOT support the plan to pay for it by canceling currently budget missions to Mercury, Europa, and Pluto - and by canceling support for the Hubble Space telescope before its replacement, the James Webb Space telescope is operational. It is important to have a plan that all space enthusiasts can get behind.

We do NOT support the plan to design a lunar outpost solely to support future manned expeditions to Mars.

A Moonbase should experiment and demonstrate technologies to use lunar resources - and astronomy from the Moon.

A government-international Moonbase should not preclude private enterprise commercial outposts.

A new start on a modular crew exploration transportation system must not exclude development of a new heavy lift cargo vehicle, be it shuttle-derived or not.
