The Moon Society is a volunteer-driven organization, and our projects are where that energy takes shape. We build open knowledge, publish the writing and science of lunar development, and hold a long-term course toward a permanent human presence on the Moon. These are the efforts we invest in most.
Open knowledge — the wikis
Three collaborative encyclopedias, written and maintained by volunteers, make the science and engineering of settlement freely available to everyone.
- Lunarpedia — the open encyclopedia of Moon settlement: resources, engineering, and the practical case for living on the Moon.
- Spacepedia — an accessible, plain-language introduction to space development for newcomers, students, and educators.
- Marspedia — the companion encyclopedia of Mars settlement and exploration.
Publishing
- Moon Miners’ Manifesto — our long-running journal of lunar and space development, chronicling the ideas behind settlement for decades.
- Luna City Press — the Society’s book imprint, publishing works such as A Pioneer’s Guide to Living on the Moon.
- Moonbeams — a forthcoming science-fiction zine celebrating stories of the lunar frontier. Coming soon.
Long-term strategic objectives
Beyond our active projects, two long-term goals guide the Society’s advocacy.
- The Artemis Project — our long-standing blueprint for a privately funded, commercially operated crewed base on the Moon.
- A commercial Moon base — a permanent, economically self-sustaining settlement that opens the Moon to everyone.
Help build these projects
Every one of these efforts is powered by volunteers. Whether you write, edit, code, research, or simply want to help, there is a place for you — and our team coordinates day to day on Slack.
