The Lunar Development Conference, the second in the Return to the Moon series, convened July 20โ21, 2000 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas as a formal papers conference focused on the development of lunar industries.
It was sponsored by the Space Frontier Foundation and the Moon Society (then the Artemis Society International), and co-sponsored by the Space Studies Institute and the National Space Society. The program convened researchers, engineers, and entrepreneurs to make the technical and economic case for returning to the Moon, this time to stay.
The conference flowed directly into the Moon Society’s Founding Conference at the same venue that weekend, where the Society was formally organized.
