Moon Society Nashville Outpost at Astronomy Day at USSRC 5/10/25

Hi all,

I represented the Moon Society Nashville Outpost at Astronomy Day at the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville AL with the Von Braun Astronomical Society on Saturday 5/10 from 10-4:00.

I presented a 5 table “Apollo to Artemis and Beyond” exhibit under the real Saturn V in the Davidson Center.  See pics below.

This included 1:144 scale models:
The Wright Flyer
Saturn V
Space Shuttle
International Space Station
Dragon
Soyuz and Soyuz rocket
Progress
Cygnus
Starliner on Atlas V
Dream Chaser
X-59 boomless super sonic jet
Axiom commercial space station
Vast Haven 1 and Stick space stations
SpaceX Falcon 9
Falcon Heavy
Starship on Super Heavy Booster
Starbase launch tower (1:400)
Mars Colonial Starship
SpaceX Artemis 3 HLS
Blue Origin Blue Moon Mark 1 and Artemis 5 Mark 2
BO New Shepard
BO New Glenn
Nancy Grace Roman Telescope
Bigelow Aerospace lunar base

Other models at other scales:
Spirit/Opportunity Mars rover
Curiosity/Perseverance Mars rover
Mars Sample Return Tube (actual size)
Ingenuity Mars helicopter
Jezero crater with Perseverance path
Valles Marineris
SpaceX initial Mars colony
Hubble Space Telescope
James Webb Space Telescope
Europa Clipper
Voyager
2001: ASO Space Station V
O’Neil Cylinder, Island Three

I spoke directly with ~150 of their 1,071 guests while many others checked out my spacecraft models and many lifted my “Planetary Milk Jugs” demonstrating the different gravity levels on Earth, Moon, Mars, Phobos and Jupiter.

I also had samples of products made with lunar regolith simulants showing how we might manufacture tile, rebar, rope, and woven cloth on the Moon.  And I showed several illustrations of possible future lunar bases and mines.

I also gave away many space exploration and ASTRONOMY magazines and a few ISS bookmarks and Dragon capsules.

VBAS had an exhibit of telescopes and meteorites.  Lonnie Puterbaugh presented his extensive meteorite exhibit too.  Unfortunately the rain prevented any solar viewing.

We had a good time sharing information about space sciences and space exploration.
